Hospice Support That Brings Comfort, Dignity, and Peace

Compassionate in-home support for clients and families navigating life’s final chapter—working alongside hospice providers to bring comfort, reassurance, and meaningful presence every step of the way.

Understanding Hospice & Comfort Support

When a loved one enters hospice care, families often find themselves navigating unfamiliar emotions, difficult decisions, and increasing caregiving responsibilities. While hospice providers focus on medical care, pain management, and clinical oversight, families are often left managing the day-to-day support their loved one still needs.

Brightwood’s Hospice & Comfort Support services work alongside hospice providers to help fill those gaps. Our CarePros provide personal care, companionship, emotional support, respite for family caregivers, and a comforting presence during this important stage of life.

Our goal is simple: help clients remain comfortable, dignified, and supported while giving families the peace of mind that comes from knowing they don’t have to carry everything alone.

When Hospice & Comfort Care Can Make a Difference

Every hospice journey is different. Some families need occasional assistance and reassurance, while others require more hands-on support as care needs increase. Whether support is needed for a few hours a week, overnight, or around the clock, Brightwood works alongside your hospice provider to help fill the gaps and provide peace of mind.

More Hands-On Care Is Needed

  • Personal care needs are increasing
  • Mobility assistance is becoming more difficult
  • Family members are providing more daily support
  • Additional help would improve comfort and safety

Nights Are Becoming More Challenging

  • Restlessness or wakefulness overnight
  • Concern about being alone at night
  • Family members taking turns staying awake
  • Additional overnight support would bring peace of mind

Additional Support Between Hospice Visits Would Help

  • Need for assistance between scheduled visits
  • Questions or concerns about daily routines
  • Additional companionship and supervision
  • Greater consistency throughout the week

More Time Together Matters

  • Less time focused on caregiving tasks
  • More time focused on meaningful moments
  • Support creating a calm environment
  • The ability to simply be present with a loved one

The Goal Is to Remain at Home

  • A desire to avoid unnecessary transitions
  • Comfort in familiar surroundings
  • Additional support needed to remain safely at home
  • Peace of mind for the entire family

Family Caregiving Is Becoming Overwhelming

  • Providing increasing levels of support
  • Constant worry about safety and wellbeing
  • Difficulty balancing caregiving with work and family
  • Feeling physically or emotionally exhausted

If several of these situations feel familiar, hospice and comfort support can help ease the demands of caregiving, provide greater comfort and dignity for your loved one, and give your family more time to focus on what matters most.

Your Questions, Answered

We’ve compiled answers to the most common questions we hear from families—so you can feel informed, confident, and supported.

Is Brightwood a hospice provider?

No. Brightwood is a non-medical home care provider. We do not provide hospice services, nursing care, pain management, or medical treatment. Instead, we work alongside hospice providers to support clients and families with personal care, companionship, overnight support, respite care, and assistance with daily activities.

Yes. Many families use hospice and home care services at the same time. Hospice focuses on medical care, symptom management, and clinical oversight, while home care provides additional hands-on support, companionship, supervision, and caregiver relief.

CarePros can assist with personal care, bathing, dressing, mobility support, companionship, meal preparation, overnight care, respite care, and emotional support for both clients and family members. Our role is to help clients remain comfortable while supporting families throughout the hospice journey.

Yes. Many families choose overnight support to ensure their loved one is comfortable and never alone during nighttime hours. Overnight care can also provide much-needed rest for family caregivers.

Absolutely. We regularly coordinate with hospice nurses, social workers, physicians, and care teams to help ensure care remains consistent and aligned with the client’s wishes and hospice care plan.

Many families seek additional support when personal care needs increase, family caregivers become overwhelmed, overnight assistance is needed, or hospice visits alone are no longer providing enough day-to-day support. Home care can help fill the gaps between hospice visits and provide greater peace of mind.

Consistency is especially important for individuals experiencing memory loss. Whenever possible, Brightwood thoughtfully matches clients with a consistent CarePro or care team to help build familiarity, trust, and comfort over time.

In many cases, care can begin within hours of your first call. Families often reach out during moments of real urgency — a hospital discharge, a fall, or a sudden change in condition. Call 480-718-7180 and a Brightwood Care Specialist will assess your timeline immediately and work to get a matched CarePro in place as fast as possible. We coordinate directly with discharge teams at Banner University Medical Center, HonorHealth, and St. Joseph’s Hospital for same-day transitions home from the hospital.

Medicare typically covers hospice services for eligible individuals, including nursing visits, medications related to the hospice diagnosis, medical equipment, and other hospice-related services.

Additional information:

Yes. Many individuals choose to receive hospice care in the comfort and familiarity of home. Home-based hospice care allows clients to remain surrounded by family, personal belongings, and familiar routines while receiving medical support from a hospice provider and additional assistance from home care professionals.

Memory conditions often progress over time. Brightwood regularly reviews care plans and adjusts services as needs evolve, helping ensure your loved one receives the appropriate level of support at every stage.

Yes. All Brightwood CarePros are direct W-2 employees — not independent contractors. They undergo multi-step background checks, drug screening, and skills testing. Every CarePro is fully insured, bonded, and actively supervised. You are never responsible for employment taxes, liability, or logistics.

Long-term care insurance often covers in-home personal care — we’ll help you navigate your policy. Arizona Medicaid (AHCCCS/ALTCS) may cover personal care for qualifying individuals. Brightwood also accepts VA benefits for eligible veterans and their spouses. Most clients self-pay, but we’ll walk you through every available funding option so nothing is left on the table.
